Laura Teipe

Laura Teipe is an experienced educator and community volunteer with a strong background in science and public engagement. For over two decades, Laura has served as a Volunteer Docent at The Field Museum, providing insights on exhibits, including Sue the T-Rex and Evolving Planet. Laura has also held the position of Beautification Commissioner for the Village of Bolingbrook, organizing community events and recognizing residents for their landscaping efforts. Previously, Laura taught various science courses at Elmwood Park High School for 13 years, contributing to student governance and curriculum development. Additional roles include serving as an ACT Science Instructor at ExcelEdge, Education Coordinator at Elgin Public Museum, Butterfly Garden Horticulturalist at the Field Museum, and Biology Instructor at Moraine Valley Community College. Laura's educational credentials include a Master’s in Educational Organization and Leadership and a Master’s in Teaching of Biology and General Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, complementing an undergraduate degree in Biology.
