Prathyush Parasuraman

Prathyush Parasuraman is a film critic for Film Companion, a role held since June 2019, focusing on web-shows, short films, and full-length features while also writing reported pieces. Previous experience includes serving as a research associate at Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), collaborating with Professor Shawn Cole on Precision Agriculture for Development in India, and as a teaching assistant for a large Introductory Economics course at UC Berkeley under Professor Enrico Moretti. Additional roles at UC Berkeley encompass research assistant positions, peer tutoring in econometrics, and contributing to the Student Advisory Council for Undergraduate Education. Prathyush has also held leadership positions in student government, including Chief Legal Officer and Attorney General for the Associated Students of the University of California, and has interned at Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust. Educational background includes a degree from the University of California, Berkeley and schooling in Dubai and Sharjah.
