Jaakko Kangasniemi has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Jaakko began their career as a Researcher at Michigan State University from 1990 to 1997. Jaakko then worked as an Economist at The World Bank from 1997 to 2000. Following this, they served as an Economic Advisor at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland from 2000 to 2002. Finally, Jaakko became the Chief Executive Officer at Finnfund in February 2002.

Jaakko Kangasniemi completed their education in a sequential manner. Jaakko first attended the University of Helsinki from 1982 to 1990, where they earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Economics. In 1989, they also participated in an MBA Exchange program at the MIT Sloan School of Management, specializing in International Finance. Subsequently, from 1987 to 1989, Kangasniemi pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in International Finance at Helsingin kauppakorkeakoulu. Finally, from 1990 to 1998, they attended Michigan State University, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Agricultural Economics.
