Pia Pekonen is an experienced sports professional currently serving as a Specialist in coach development at the Finnish Olympic Committee since January 2016. Pia has been a prominent figure in the Finnish Ski Association, holding the positions of Chairman of the Coach Association of Cross-Country Skiing and Coach since May 2009, and previously worked as a Coach for the U18 team from June 2021 to April 2023. Additional coaching roles include serving as a Coach at HIFK Jr Hockey Rf from May 2018 to April 2020 and as a Coach Educator at the Sport Institute of Finland from October 2008 to December 2015. Pia holds multiple qualifications in sports coaching and education, including a Master of Sport Studies from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and various degrees and certifications in coaching, management, and physiotherapy from esteemed institutions including the University of Jyväskylä, Häme University of Applied Sciences, and Lahti Polytechnic.
