Richard Barton

Richard is a Partner in Hong Kong, bringing 30 years’ corporate and financial communications experience to clients across the Asia Pacific region. Richard has been based in Asia since 2000, advising a broad range of domestic and international organisations from across the industrial spectrum on their communications needs, ranging from market entry and reputation management to public affairs, crises, litigation support, investor relations and financial transactions. He has advised on numerous complex financial situations including IPOs, hostile, contested and friendly M&A deals, proxy battles and debt restructurings totaling over US$350 billion.

Prior to joining Finsbury Richard spent more than seven years at Newgate Communications, which he founded and led in Hong Kong. He previously ran Gavin Anderson & Company in Asia ex-Japan and started his career in investment banking in London. Richard has a BA (Hons) in Politics & Economics from Durham University, UK.
