Fire and Emergency NZ
Steve Turek is an accomplished fire service leader with extensive experience in various roles within New Zealand Fire Service and Fire and Emergency NZ. Currently serving as Assistant National Commander since January 2015, Steve oversees service delivery in Region 4, comprising several key areas in New Zealand. In addition, Steve leads the development of the Risk Reduction Strategy and integration efforts for Fire and Emergency NZ. Previously, Steve held multiple Assistant Commissioner positions at London Fire Brigade, focusing on fire safety regulation and operational service delivery. With a strong background in operational oversight and policy development, particularly during tenure at New Zealand Fire Service from 1999 to 2006, Steve has significantly impacted fire prevention and service standards. Educational qualifications include a Master's in Public Policy and Administration from Charles Sturt University and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Management from the Australian Institute of Police Management.
