Hilary Ho Jia Hao

Hilary Ho Jia Hao has had a varied career in the technology industry. Starting in 2012, they were an IT Specialist Intern at Festo (M) Sdn Bhd, where they helped build a project management system and created E-forms. In 2011, they were the Mozilla Malaysia Representative, coordinating projects and running test drives for Mozilla products. In 2014, they were a Student Tutor for Basic Programming and Web Programming at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). In 2016, they were a Solutions Consultant at ABP Solutions Pte Ltd, researching customer processes and offering solutions. In 2020, they were a Database Engineer at Sea, and in 2021 they are a Senior Database Engineer and Database Engineer at Fireflies.ai. As a Database Engineer, Hilary is responsible for building, maintaining, scaling, optimising and backing up MongoDB, Redis and PostgreSQL. Hilary also handles day to day Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana operations, and is responsible for cloud cost optimisation and Disaster Recovery Plans. In addition, they work with security and infosec teams to ensure data compliance meets SOC Type 2, HIPAA and ISO standards.

Hilary Ho Jia Hao received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Cognitive Science from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak in 2012. Hilary then obtained five certifications from Dataquest.io, Google, and freeCodeCamp between 2014 and 2017. In 2016, they obtained a Probability and Statistics in Python: Intermediate Course, Data Science Projects Course, and Python Programming: Advanced Course from Dataquest.io. In 2015, they obtained a Google Tag Manager Fundamentals certification from Google. In 2014, they obtained a Google Analytics Platform Principles certification from Google. In 2017, they obtained a Full Stack Web Development Certification from freeCodeCamp.
