Propulsion And Mechanical Design Engineering Manager at Firehawk Aerospace

Andrew Copeland has an extensive work experience in the aerospace industry. Andrew is currently working as a Propulsion Design Lead Engineer at Firehawk Aerospace since September 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Aerojet Rocketdyne as a Senior Design Engineer for Tactical Solid Propulsion from January 2021 to September 2022.

Before their role at Aerojet Rocketdyne, Andrew worked at Oasis Outsourcing Ltd. for five years, from March 2016 to January 2021, as a Manager/Sales. Andrew also gained significant experience at Terran Sciences Group as a Lead Aerospace Engineer from December 2013 to January 2017, where they conducted research on rocket engine and experimental propulsion.

Andrew also worked at Florida Space Grant Consortium as a Manager/Flight Systems for one year from December 2014 to December 2015, where they oversaw senior design projects and managed lab equipment. Andrew began their career as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Central Florida from August 2014 to May 2015, where they taught orbital mechanics and provided guidance to senior design teams.

Additionally, Andrew worked as an Online Tutor/Textbook Solutions provider at Chegg Inc. for a brief period from September 2013 to December 2013. Andrew also contributed to the Earthrise Space Foundation - Google Lunar XPRIZE Team Omega Envoy as a Lead Propulsion & Structural Engineer and Design and Testing Engineer. Their role involved working on NASA-funded projects related to lunar insertion, orbit navigation, and lunar descent vehicles.

Before their aerospace career, Andrew gained experience at Dye Clay Family YMCA as a Summer Camp Division Leader/KidZONE Staff from February 2006 to August 2009. Andrew also worked as a Model/Sales Associate at Hollister Co. for a short period from April 2008 to August 2008.

Andrew Copeland has a strong educational background in engineering. Andrew obtained a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Central Florida from 2014 to 2019. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in both Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from the same university from 2010 to 2013. Before attending the University of Central Florida, Andrew completed an Associate of Science degree in Engineering from the University of North Florida in 2009. Andrew also graduated from Orange Park High School, where they obtained their High School Diploma in 2007.

In addition to their formal education, Andrew has pursued various certifications. Andrew obtained certifications in Conflict Resolution and Management 101 from Bredison & Associates in August and July of 2022, respectively. In April of 2022, they received an Advanced CREO 5.0 certification from Aerojet Rocketdyne and completed an Intermediate Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing certification from Sigmetrix. Andrew also holds a Secret Security Clearance from the United States Department of Defense, which they obtained in March 2022. Moreover, they achieved certifications in Basic Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, ITAR/EAR, ISO 9001, Project Management Professional (PMP), and Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate - Mechanical Design in 2021 and earlier.
