Welcoming Mr. Ian Clarke to First Capital’s Board of Trustees. In addition to real estate, his grave expertise includes strategic insight and leading growth, accounting and tax acumen, and corporate finance and capital markets, among many. Since April 2017, Clarke has been the Chief Financial Officer at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA). He is currently responsible for their commercial and business partnerships, new business ventures and developments, and corporate strategies. Prior to this leading role, he stood as one of the GTAA’s board members for five years and chaired their Audit Committee for two. His professional experience in finance exceeds 25 years, specifically in the sports and entertainment industry. Previously, Clarke was Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd.’s (MLSE) Chief Financial Officer, Business Development for 12 years, while maintaining executive roles in his 14 years prior to being their CFO. At MLSE, he led countless projects involving finance, administration, taxation, new business developments, government relations, regulatory filings, bonds and loans, collective bargaining, and restructuring. In his education, Clarke attended the Institute for Chartered Accountants of Ontario, where he received a Fellowship of Chartered Accountants. That is in addition to his ICD.D designation granted by the Institute of Corporate Directors.
