Jose Andrés Mejías has a diverse work experience that showcases their progression as a software engineer. Jose Andrés began their career as a Junior Software Developer, where they quickly learned and adapted to practical software development. Jose Andrés then moved on to the role of Software Developer, where they gained solid knowledge of programming basics and implemented best practices in front-end and back-end development. As a mid-developer at First Factory, Jose now works almost independently, providing optimal solutions and maintaining frequent communication with clients.
In addition to their software engineering roles, Jose also worked as a Web Development Co-Instructor at the University of Costa Rica's School of Computer Science. In this role, they taught workshops on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and advanced topics such as React and other relevant libraries and frameworks.
Currently, Jose is working as a Researcher at CITIC, UCR, where they are involved in a project focused on developing an automated system for detecting advertisements that promote unhealthy food products. Jose Andrés utilizes advanced machine learning techniques, primarily deep learning, to achieve the project's objectives.
Jose Andrés Mejías completed their education in Computer Science, with a Master's degree from Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR) from 2021 to 2024, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Software Engineering from the same university from 2015 to 2020. In addition to their formal education, they obtained several certifications, including "Functional Programming For Beginners With JavaScript" and "JavaScript: Understanding the Weird Parts" from Udemy in September 2021 and August 2021, respectively. Jose Andrés also received certification in "Rompiendo mitos sobre el Acoso Laboral" from Efecto Boomerang in July 2021.
