Ron Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Ron began their career at Kraft Foods as a Senior Sales Representative from 1996 to 1999. Ron then worked at Bill's Dollar Stores as a Store Opener for a few months in 1999. Following that, they joined International Paper and held various positions such as Accounts Payable Coordinator, Internal Auditor, and Federal Tax Analyst from 1999 to 2007. Ron then joined ACH Food Companies, where they served as a Senior Internal Auditor, Internal Audit Manager, and ultimately as the Head of Internal Audit for ABF North America from 2007 to 2017. Ron recently transitioned to First Horizon Bank in 2018 as an SVP, Senior Audit Manager. Additionally, in 2023, they joined The University of Memphis as an Adjunct Professor.
Ron Smith has a Master of Business Administration in Leadership from Belhaven University, which they obtained from 2005 to 2007. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Central Arkansas, attending from 1992 to 1996.
In addition to their formal education, Ron Smith has obtained several certifications. In October 2021, they completed the certification program on Elevating Coaching Skills from Duke Corporate Education. In November 2021, they acquired multiple certifications including Achieving Peak Productivity from UC Berkeley Executive Education, Communicating Inclusively from Ivey Business School at Western University, Communicating Persuasively & Building Trust from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Driving Inclusive Decision-Making from Ivey Business School at Western University, Intelligent Risk-Taking from Yale School of Management, Practicing Inclusive Innovation from Ivey Business School at Western University, Simplifying Complex Decision-Making from Yale School of Management, and Stress-Testing for Superior Decision-Making from Yale School of Management.
