Jennifer L. Deacon is the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer at First Virginia Community Bank. Jennifer has over 19 years of experience in the banking industry, including previous positions as EVP/Chief Accounting Officer & Corporate Secretary at Cardinal Bank and various other accounting roles.
Deacon is responsible for establishing and monitoring accounting policies for the Company and implementation of generally accepted accounting principles. Jennifer is also responsible for all areas of financial reporting (regulatory, management, SEC including proxy statements and multiple registration statements), asset/liability management, liquidity management, maintaining internal controls over accounting, finance and financial reporting (SOX 404), and managing the tax position of all entities (deferred taxes, completion of all tax returns including federal, state, bank franchise taxes).
Deacon has also been integral in the due diligence of acquisitions and acquisition targets, member of system conversion teams, and a start up team for Cardinal Bank in March 1998 where they established accounting system, participated in product development, and set operational procedures and policies for the institution.
Jennifer L. Deacon earned their Executive Masters of Business Administration from George Mason University. Jennifer also holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from George Mason University. In addition, they are certified by the Virginia Bankers Association in School of Bank Management and by the VBOA - Virginia Board of Accountancy as a Certified Public Accountant. Jennifer also has certification from the Virginia Bankers Association in Executive Leadership Institute.
