Head Of Business Partnering at Fitness and Lifestyle Group

Matthew McNelley has a diverse work history in the field of human resources and people and culture. Matthew started their career at Fitness First Australia in 2008 as a Recruiter, where they managed end-to-end recruitment processes for club-based roles. Matthew then moved up to become a Recruitment Team Leader, responsible for senior management recruitment and managing an in-house team. In 2012, they transitioned to the role of Human Resources Business Partner, providing support and guidance in HR matters. From 2017 to 2019, they served as a Senior HR Business Partner at Fitness First Australia.

In 2019, Matthew joined the Fitness and Lifestyle Group as a Senior People & Culture Business Partner. In this role, they provided executive-level support to the Fitness First and Barry's Bootcamp brands, as well as strategic brand initiatives across the wider group. Matthew also offered best practice guidance to regions in NSW, Victoria, and Singapore. Matthew then advanced to the position of Head of Business Partnering in 2022, where they partnered with FLG leaders on various strategic people strategies across all brands in the portfolio. Matthew led a team responsible for delivering P&C initiatives from leadership roles to frontline teams.

Matthew McNelley completed their Bachelor of Psychology from QUT (Queensland University of Technology) from 2002 to 2008. In 2015 to 2016, they also participated in the AHRI Mentoring Program from the Australian HR Institute. In terms of certifications, Matthew obtained their Mental Health First Aid Accreditation from the Workplace Mental Health Institute in 2015. In 2016, they completed the Leaders Masterclass from the same institution. Matthew became an Everything DiSC Accredited Facilitator in 2017 through the institution Everything DiSC: A Wiley Brand. Lastly, Matthew attained their Genos Emotional Intelligence Practitioner certification from Genos International in 2019.
