Isabel Huston has a diverse range of work experience. Isabel started in 2014 as a Graduate School Fellow at Education Pioneers and worked with the Science Team at Achieve to support state adoption and implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards. Isabel then became a Program Associate at Achieve, where they managed state coalitions and led the development of a guide to standards implementation.
In 2015, they joined 50CAN as a Growth Associate, where they designed and managed leadership development programs and provided support and coaching to program participants. Isabel then worked at the Washington Capitals as part of the Game Night Staff from 2016 to 2020.
From 2017 to 2020, Isabel worked at Leadership for Educational Equity, first as a Program Manager for Fellowships and then as a Director of Fellowships. In these roles, they managed all aspects of the Policy and Advocacy Summer Fellowship, including recruitment, curriculum design, and facilitation. Isabel also led the redesign of the fundraising model and grew fellowship participation by 10%.
Isabel then transitioned to the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) as the Director of Career and Leadership Development from 2020 to 2022. In this role, they led the design and implementation of a new career ladder for DCPS educators.
In 2021, Isabel joined the New Leaders Council as a Co-Director, where they co-managed a volunteer executive board and ran a leadership development program for young professionals.
In 2022, they became the Director of Operations at Robert White for Mayor, where they managed operations for the campaign. Isabel also joined the Flamboyan Foundation as the Senior Director of Training and Product Design, where they design training content and builds relationships with external partners.
Most recently, in 2023, they joined Education Pioneers as a Facilitator, where they help facilitate educational programs.
Isabel Huston completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Sociology and English from Wesleyan University from 2006 to 2010. Following that, they pursued a Master's degree in Public Policy Analysis from The George Washington University, which they obtained from 2012 to 2014. In 2021, Isabel Huston earned a Certificate of Participation in Building Organizational Cultures: A Framework for Leaders from the Professional Development program at Harvard Division of Continuing Education. Currently, they are enrolled at The George Washington University, pursuing a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Organizational Leadership and Learning, with an expected completion date in 2023.
