DJ Trela is the current trustee at the Flint Institute of Music. DJ has been in this position since 2013. Prior to that, DJ was the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Michigan-Flint from 1999 to 2013. In this role, DJ oversaw faculty, advocated for the college and university, and was actively engaged in fundraising. From 1994 to 1999, DJ was the Director of the School of Liberal Studies at Roosevelt University. In this role, DJ administered programs in all areas of the fine arts and social sciences, took the lead in hiring and evaluating faculty, and oversaw a multi-million dollar budget.
DJ Trela received a B.A. in DJ'story from the University of Illinois Chicago and then went on to study DJ'story and English Literature at the University of Aberdeen as part of a study abroad program. After completing their undergraduate studies, they began working towards their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in English Literature (British and Commonwealth) at The University of Edinburgh.
