Kamal Chopra

Kamal Chopra is the VP of Tax - Compliance & Operations at FlipKart. Kamal has over 13 years of experience in tax and has previously worked with Oracle India and Intel Corporation.

At Oracle India, Kamal was the Sr. Director - Direct & Indirect Tax where they managed a large team of tax professionals. Kamal was responsible for the company's compliance with Direct Tax, Transfer Pricing, International Tax, Withholding tax, and Indirect Tax (Customs, GST, SEZ, STPI).

Kamal was then selected for an Expatriate role to Malaysia with Intel Corporation as the Regional Head - Tax & Customs. In this role, they were responsible for the regional tax Planning, Compliance and Litigation for South East Asia Countries. Kamal also built the Tax Org (including managing desired attritions) and implemented the Tax Shared Service Model.

During their time at Intel Corporation, Kamal also negotiated with Govt. to secured unique and attractive tax incentives with minimum commitments. Kamal also influenced Authorities to grant customs waiver for critical business needs and settled 5 yrs. TP audit. In addition, they developed the Site Selection Strategy (including optimizing existing site-structure) to maximize incentives.

Prior to joining FlipKart, Kamal was the Director - Finance & Company Secretary at Option One Mortgage.

Kamal Chopra has a CA from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, a CS from The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and a Bachelor of Commerce from Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer. Kamal is also certified from KPMG in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (ICGB), Siemens Management Learning and Asia Pacific Management Development Consortium in S4 Management Development Program, IBM in e-business Java Application Developmet Module, and Regional Computer Centre in Diploma in Computer Science.
