Roman Bugaev

CTO at Flo Health

Roman Bugaev is the current Chief Technical Officer at Flo Health, a position they have held since December of 2017. Prior to their work at Flo Health, Roman was the Head of Engineering (Start) at Payfort from January 2017 to December 2017. Roman was responsible for business and project reviews, planning and product management, and oversaw the infrastructure, design, and architecture of the modern API-first payment gateway that was later acquired by Amazon.

Before their work at Payfort, Roman was a Technology Architect at Adform from September 2013 to December 2016. There, they created API infrastructure, guidelines, and design principles used by the entire company to design, build, maintain APIs and services. The main component they worked on was an in-house grown API gateway/middleware that handled all company API traffic with many useful API features (throttling, request/response transformation, enhanced security, and analytics). This allowed the company to make one more step forward to microservices architecture. The biggest challenges they faced were keeping the system stable, reliable, and highly available while at the same time spreading knowledge and advocating principles and guidelines to different units.

Roman's previous positions include Technical Architect at VRP Consulting from September 2012 to September 2013.

Roman Bugaev has a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. Roman Bugaev is currently a student in the Computer Science program at Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics.
