Carolyne Matara

Carolyne Matara has extensive experience in legal and compliance roles, currently serving as the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer and Regional Compliance Officer for Emerging Markets at Flora Food Group since March 2019. In this position, Carolyne leads ethics and compliance initiatives, fostering a culture of integrity while navigating complex regulatory landscapes. Additionally, Carolyne acts as Legal Counsel for Africa, offering strategic legal counsel on governance and commercial law across various jurisdictions. Previous roles include Regional Compliance Officer for Africa, Middle East, and Asia at the Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers Association and various legal leadership positions at General Motors Africa & Middle East, where responsibilities included serving as General Counsel for Africa Operations and overseeing legal and public policy matters. Carolyne holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Master of Laws (LLM) in Public Finance and Financial Services Law from the University of Nairobi.
