Daniel Baugh

Daniel Baugh, CPC has a diverse work experience in the medical coding and auditing field. Daniel started their career in 2004 as a Discrepancy Analyst at HCA, where they were responsible for identifying and correcting discrepancies in Medicare and Medicaid claims. Daniel then worked at Mayo Clinic as a Patient Financial Representative, where they abstracted CPT coding from medical records and handled billing and insurance inquiries.

In 2009, Daniel joined Medical Development International as an Account Reconciliation Specialist, where they analyzed and processed claims, ensured accurate medical coding and billing, and met CMS guidelines. Daniel later joined St. Vincent's HealthCare as a Coding Specialist II, coding physician-based claims and ensuring compliance with CMS and commercial payer guidelines.

Daniel worked at SCIO Health Analytics® as a DRG Audit Coordinator II from 2011 to 2014, where they verified and abstracted medical coding, priced claims, and performed audits. Daniel then joined Beacon Health System as an Educator/Auditor, providing education on coding guidelines and updates to doctors and the clinical team.

In 2014, Daniel joined HCA Healthcare as a Medical Coding Auditor, responsible for abstracting CPT-4, HCPCS II, and ICD-9-CM codes for various medical specialties. Daniel also worked as a Coder II, collaborating with the A/R team to resolve coding-related denials and rejections.

Most recently, Daniel worked at Florida Medical Clinic as a Coding Auditing and Reimbursement Manager and currently holds the role of Coding & Auditing Associate Director. Their responsibilities include overseeing coding and auditing functions, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, and managing reimbursement processes.

Throughout their career, Daniel Baugh has demonstrated expertise in medical coding, auditing, and reimbursement, as well as a commitment to staying updated with industry guidelines and educating others in the field.

Daniel Baugh, CPC has an education history that includes a degree in Coding and Billing from Florida Metropolitan University, completed between 2004 and 2006. Daniel then studied Health/Health Care Administration/Management at Florida State College at Jacksonville from 2006 to 2010. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC. Daniel also holds a certification in ICD-10.
