Michelle Kim-Painter

Director, Education And Community Engagement at The Florida Orchestra

Michelle Kim-Painter has an extensive work history in the music industry. Michelle has held various roles at different organizations throughout their career. In 2011, they began working as Director of Music at Newman Center, and also took on the role of Administrative Assistant at University of Massachusetts Amherst. Michelle later became Director of Music/Music Teacher at Hampden Charter School of Science from 2013-2014. In 2015, they worked as Director of Orchestra and Teaching Artist at Education Through Music and as Associate Faculty- violin/viola at Elizabeth Faidley Studio. In 2016, they became an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at Columbia University in the City of New York until 2018. Since 2019, they have been Co-Founder and Violinist at Homegrown New Music Ensemble and also works as a Violin Coach at Tampa Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. In 2021, they assumed the role of Director, Education and Community Engagement at The Florida Orchestra. Overall, Michelle Kim-Painter has demonstrated a passion for music through their different roles in education, orchestras, and ensembles.

Michelle Kim-Painter has a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance, Violin from the University of South Florida, which they earned from 2004 to 2009. Michelle then pursued a Master's degree in Music Performance, Violin at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2009 to 2012. More recently, Michelle obtained a Master of Music degree in Chamber Music from the University of South Florida, completing their studies from 2018 to 2020.
