Director Of Chemometrics (chemical Data Science) at Flotek Industries

Nathanial Watson began their career as a Field Artillery Officer in the US Army from 1999 to 2006. Nathanial then served as a Nuclear and Counterproliferation Officer from 2006 to 2016, during which they gained academic experiences and underwent training in WMD threat mitigation. From 2010 to 2014, Nathanial worked as the Director of Training Development at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, where they supervised training and curriculum development for combating Weapons of Mass Destruction courses. Nathanial also managed the Army's Nuclear and Counter-Proliferation Officer Course. Following that, from 2007 to 2010, they were an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where they taught advanced chemistry courses and trained cadets in problem-solving skills. Nathanial then took a sabbatical from 2017 to 2018 to embark on a cross-country bike tour and travel the world. In 2018, they worked as a Freelance Tutor and Chemometrician. Nathanial later joined Flotek Industries, Inc. in 2020 as a Chemometrics Manager and was promoted to Director of Chemometrics (Chemical Data Science) in 2021. In this role, they manage a remote cross-functional team in developing regression and classification models for over 600 IIoT NIR analyzers. Nathanial also oversees the integration of JP3 into Flotek, following its acquisition. Additionally, Nathanial worked at JP3 Measurement, LLC from 2019 to the present, first as a Chemometrician, then as a Chemometrics Manager, and currently as a Director of Chemometrics. Finally, from 2014 to 2017, Nathanial was a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Washington, conducting research and developing methods and technology in multi-dimensional gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.

Nathanial Watson has a strong educational background with a focus on analytical chemistry. Nathanial earned their Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Florida from 1995 to 1999. Nathanial further pursued their studies and obtained a Master's Degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Washington between 2005 and 2007. Nathanial continued their academic journey and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Washington from 2014 to 2017. Additionally, they expanded their knowledge in the field of Weapons of Mass Destruction by completing a PEL Certificate program at the National Defense University from 2011 to 2014.
