Sophie Killer, PhD, has a diverse work experience in the field of sports nutrition and research. Sophie started their career in 2012 as a Doctoral Researcher at Loughborough University, where they focused on the nutrition and hydration implications for trained athletes. After completing their PhD in 2014, Sophie worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Lecturer in Applied Sports Nutrition at the University of Kent.

In 2013, Sophie joined both Crystal Palace Football Club and Palmares Ltd as a Performance Nutritionist, where they were responsible for strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition services within the club. Sophie also provided one-to-one player nutrition consultations to the First Team and conducted nutrition education seminars and workshops with the Academy.

Sophie's next role was as the Head of Performance Nutrition at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club in 2018. In this position, they oversaw the club's performance nutrition program.

Sophie then joined UK Athletics in 2015 as the Lead Performance Nutritionist, a role they held until 2018. Sophie also worked as a Performance Nutrition Consultant at Red Bull from 2019 onwards.

In 2017, Sophie took on the role of a Research Fellow in Sports Nutrition at Loughborough University.

In 2019, they joined the University of Bedfordshire as a Lecturer, where they covered maternity leave and taught Exercise Metabolism and Physiology at MSc and BSc levels, also supervising student research projects.

Most recently, Sophie joined Flow Bio in 2021 as the Head of Physiology.

Sophie Killer, PhD, has a diverse educational background in the field of exercise metabolism and performance nutrition. Sophie obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Birmingham in 2010. Sophie further pursued their studies at the same institution and completed their PhD in Exercise Metabolism and Performance Nutrition in 2012.

In addition to their PhD, Sophie also obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Nutrition from the International Olympic Committee in 2012. Sophie continued their education at Loughborough University and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Exercise Metabolism and Performance Nutrition in 2014.

Sophie has also obtained several certifications throughout their career. Sophie became a UK Anti Doping Accredited Advisor in 2016 through UKAD. In 2011, they achieved a Level 1 ISAK Anthropometry certification. Sophie also became an IR(M)ER Operator for DXA Body Composition Scanning in 2010, certified by Vertic Scientific Ltd. Additionally, they obtained certifications in Phlebotomy & Cannulation, SENr Registered Practitioner, and Associate of the British Dietetic Association in 2010. Sophie also holds a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering, obtained in 2010 from CIEH.

Before pursuing their higher education, Sophie completed their secondary education at Charters School from 2004 to 2006, where they studied Biology, Economics, and Physical Education.
