Ricky Tjandra, PhD has a diverse work experience in research and development engineering, teaching, and program development/coordination. From 2019 to present, they have been the Director of Research at FluidAI (formerly NERv Technology). From 2014 to 2019, they were a PhD Candidate at the University of Waterloo, where they developed three different novel methods and processes to produce flexible energy storage devices, and published 20 research articles in refereed scientific journals. Ricky also presented their research findings to an international scientific audience at major research conferences. From 2017 to 2019, they were the Program Developer/Coordinator at Waterloo Engineering Outreach. From 2014 to 2017, they were the Satellite Program Manager at Waterloo Engineering Outreach. From 2011 to 2014, they were the R&D Technician at Mascoma Corp., where they executed pilot scale trials and helped develop an Aspen Plus model for a commercial 38MM gal bio-ethanol plant. From 2010 to 2011, they were a Research Assistant at the University of Waterloo.

Ricky Tjandra, PhD began their educational journey at the University of Waterloo in 2009, where they completed an Engineering degree in Nanotechnology in 2014. Ricky then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering - Nanotechnology, which they completed in 2015. Finally, they achieved their PhD in Chemical Engineering (Nanotechnology) from the University of Waterloo in 2019.
