Aklant S. has a diverse work experience in the field of robotics and research. From 2023 onwards, they worked as a Robotics Engineer at FlytBase. Prior to that, they held multiple roles at Team Robocon KJSIEIT, starting as a Team Member in February 2021 and later becoming the Programming Team Lead from November 2021 to July 2023. In this role, they were responsible for brainstorming, researching, and developing semi-automated robots for the ABU ROBOCON International Robotics competition. They applied a PID control system, automated lift mechanisms, and implemented equations for the mecannum drive train.
In 2022, Aklant worked as a Research and Development Intern at The Innovation Story, focusing on implementing state-of-the-art robotics for FRC And First Robotics World championships. They built a custom path planning algorithm using Bezier curves, PID control system, and motion profiling. They also simulated projectile motion considering real-life constraints and used the data to train a deep learning neural network.
From October 2021 to March 2022, Aklant worked as a Deep Learning Researcher at Nehru Science Centre, where they implemented a GAN DL model for converting sketches to human-like faces. They learned about GAN deep learning models, retrieved dataset, constructed a GAN architecture using TensorFlow, and pre-processed the images.
Finally, from December 2020 to May 2021, Aklant worked as an Engineering Mentor at J.P. Morgan. They trained underprivileged students in robotics, helped them understand the engineering world, and assisted in building a Manhole cleaner robot.
Aklant S. completed their Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from K. J. Somaiya Institute of Technology, from 2019 to 2023. Before that, they attended St. Joseph's High School in Panvel from 2007 to 2016.
In terms of additional certifications, Aklant obtained various certifications in different fields. Aklant completed the Robot Operating System (ROS) certification from Udemy in October 2022, and the Structuring Machine Learning Projects certification from Coursera in the same month and year. Aklant also completed an internship called NSC Internship at Nehru Science Centre - India in March 2022.
Aklant also obtained certifications from MathWorks, such as the Image Processing Onramp in August 2021 and the MATLAB Onramp in the same month and year. Additionally, they completed several online courses, including "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter Tuning, Regularization and Optimization," "Neural Networks and Deep Learning," "Machine Learning," and "Data Science Microdegree," all of which were completed in July and August 2021 from various platforms like Coursera and Udemy.
Furthermore, Aklant obtained the Python 3.4.3 certification from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in May 2021. Aklant also participated in the MAPATHON event organized by the same institute in December 2020. Additionally, they completed the "Overview of Planetary Geosciences with special emphasis to the Moon and Mars" certification offered by ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization in July 2020.
