Michael Schley

Founder and Board Member at FM:Systems

Michael Schley has extensive work experience in facility management and architecture. Michael founded FM:Systems in 1984 and served as CEO and Founder until 2017. Michael also served as a board member of FM:Systems. In addition, they were a member of IFMA (International Facility Management Association) since 1984.

Schley has actively participated in the IFMA Foundation, starting from 2010, where they served as a Trustee and Chair of the Knowledge Management Committee until 2013. From 2015 to 2019, they were honored to serve as a Trustee, member of the Executive Committee, and Chair of the IFMA Foundation. In 2021, they worked as a Co-Editor for the IFMA Foundation, leading a team of authors in creating the book "Work on the Move 3, Building Better Workplaces After the Pandemic," which explores important workplace trends.

Before their involvement in facility management, Schley worked as a Corporate Director of CAD Services at CRS Sirrine from 1983 to 1984. Prior to that, they were a Senior Associate at Pierce, Goodwin, Alexander, Architects from 1976 to 1983.

Michael Schley earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies and Environmental Design from Case Western Reserve University, where they studied from 1969 to 1973. Michael then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Architecture degree from North Carolina State University, specializing in the field of Architecture, from 1973 to 1975.
