Nicholas Herne

Nicholas Herne has a diverse work experience in the finance and technology sectors. Nicholas is currently working as the Head of Risk and Operations at Fnality International, a unique Central Bank Digital Currency platform about to go live in the UK. Prior to this, they worked as a Financial Services Consultant as a Sole Practitioner. Nicholas also served as the COO, Chief Product Officer, and In Business Risk at Percapita, a FinTech startup targeting banking services to the un and underbanked.

Before that, Nicholas worked at Citigroup as the Chief Operating Officer, In Business Risk, Equity Markets, MD. Nicholas was recruited to improve the performance of Equity Sales and Trading and conducted a thorough review of the business to identify deficiencies.

Nicholas has also held significant roles at Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, and JPMorgan Chase & Co. At Morgan Stanley, they served as COO and In Business Risk for Equity Sales and Trading. Nicholas played a crucial role in building an operational risk framework and establishing a Non Market Risk function within the business. At Merrill Lynch, Nicholas was the Head of Debt Operations and Strategy, where they managed a team of 120 and successfully navigated crises such as the Russian debt crisis and Y2K. At JPMorgan Chase & Co., they served as the Head of Equity Swaps and Structures, Middle Office, VP, and was responsible for complex structures and swaps in the EMEA region.

Nicholas began their career as a Technical Consultant at IBM and also worked at GEC ALSTHOM as the Head of Drawing Office and Power Station Projects Logistics. In this role, they oversaw the modernization of the drawing office and developed software for reactor component sizing and logistics management.

Nicholas Herne obtained a Bachelor of Science in Joint Chemistry and Material Science from the University of Liverpool in 1985. Nicholas then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Simulation of Stress Transients in Composite Laminates from the same university, completing it in 1989.
