Mike Ungar has extensive work experience in various roles at different companies. Mike currently works as a Certified FocalPoint Business Coach and Executive Coach at FocalPoint since February 2020. Prior to this, they had a long career at Michelin starting in 1984. At Michelin, they held several positions including Director of Competency, Progress Profession and Progress Advisor; Lean Expert; Director of Corporate Recruiting and University Affairs; Continuous Improvement Manager; Value Chain Manager and Production Shop Manager; Industrial Strategy and Investment Manager; Production Shop Manager; Industrial Engineering Manager; and Industrial Engineer. During their time at Michelin, they were responsible for driving business results, enhancing progress culture, deploying training and development programs, implementing Lean techniques, leading recruitment efforts, improving manufacturing processes, and managing production teams. Before joining Michelin, Mike served as an Army Infantry Officer in the US Army from 1980 to 1984.
Mike Ungar has a diverse education history. Mike obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, where they studied from 1976 to 1980. Later, from 1985 to 1990, they pursued a Masters in Business Administration at Clemson University. Throughout their professional journey, they have also pursued various certifications, including becoming an Executive Coach from FocalPoint in June 2020, a Navigational Conversations Facilitator from Leadscape Learning in May 2020, a Business Coach from FocalPoint in February 2020, a Riley Institute Diversity Fellow from the Riley Institute at Furman University in June 2019, a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from Ecole Polytechnique in June 2014, and a Veteran-Owned Small Business certification from the U.S. Small Business Administration in April 2023.
