George C. Oluikpe

Assistant Director, After-school Programs at Friends of Crown Heights

George C. Oluikpe is one of two Assistant Directors for After-school Programs at FOCH, where his responsibilities include site supervision at two of our Out-of-School-Time (OST) sites in Brooklyn.

A career educator with more than 40 years of teaching, research and supervisory experience at all educational levels from kindergarten to college, Mr. Oluikpe brings to our organization a diverse range of professional expertise developed in settings including Africa, the Caribbean and the United States. He holds two Master’s degrees in Experimental Psychology and Educational Psychology from Miami University in Ohio, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Guyana. He also holds additional certification in Curriculum Development and Supervision in Mathematics from the University of Guyana, and is a former Fulbright-LASPAU-USAID scholar (1984 – 1987).

Born in Nigeria, Mr. Oluikpe served for two years in the Biafran Air Force before migrating to Guyana, where he studied and later served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Lillian Dewar Teachers’ Training College and the University of Guyana. In the United States, he has previously served as Director of Testing and Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at Florida Memorial College and as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York. His many scholarly and general-interest publications include Cultural Sensitivity to the African Community, a multi-volume work for the Cultural Sensitivity curriculum of the New York City Police Department; and Flexipillar Island, a children’s book published this year.

When not directly engaged in the supervision of our flagship After-school programs at FOCH, Mr. Oluikpe can be found pursuing his special interests in computer programming, experimental design and research methods, psychometrics, psychophysics, curriculum development and evaluation, educational measurement and evaluation.
