Frédéric Padilla

Research Director for Applied Physics at Focused Ultrasound Foundation

In June 2019, Frédéric Padilla, PhD, was appointed Director of Applied Physics Research at the Foundation. Prior to his he was the Richard Merkin Visiting Fellow at the Foundation from 2017 to 2019. He is a visiting Professor at the University of Virginia’s Department of Radiology, and is affiliated with the Laboratory of Therapeutic Applications of Ultrasound (LabTAU) in Lyon, France, a Focused Ultrasound Foundation Centre of Excellence. In the past, Frédéric has been a Fulbright Fellow at Boston University, and a visiting Professor at the University of Michigan.

He currently oversees and conducts the Foundation’s projects on applied physics and preclinical research. His research at the Foundation focuses on developing strategies to harness the power of focused ultrasound to enhance the response to immunotherapies, in breast and pancreatic cancers; on promoting brain tumor response to radiosurgery with focused ultrasound; and working closely with the technical team, on the enhancement of focused ultrasound treatment envelope for brain applications.
