Mårten Sundmark is a Swedish political scientist who has worked in various government and non-government organizations. Mårten is currently the Director of International Affairs at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI).
Sundmark began their career as an intern at the Congressional Research Service in 1994. Mårten then worked as a desk officer at the Swedish Ministry of Education from 1998 to 2002. In 2008, they joined the Swedish Ministry of Defence as a senior advisor and deputy head of department. Mårten held this position until 2017, when they took up their current role at FOI.
Sundmark has played a key role in several Swedish government initiatives, including the development of the country's new security strategy. Mårten is an expert on defence and security policy, and has published several papers on these topics.
Mårten Sundmark has a background in purchasing, procurement, and acquisitions in the defense industry. Mårten also has a BA in political science, history, and economics from Uppsala University.
