Appelberg Sofia is a medical researcher at Folkhälsomyndigheten since June 2017, specializing in vaccine development for hemorrhagic fever viruses and SARS-CoV-2. Prior experience includes roles as a postdoctoral researcher at Karolinska Institutet, focusing on immunoglobulin A deficiency, and at the University of Florida, studying HIV infection in macrophages. Appelberg holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Florida.
