Fabio Antonelli began their work experience as a Software Engineer at Alcatel Italia in 1994. Fabio then moved on to Sodalia Spa, where they worked as a Software Engineer and Software Architect from 1995 to 1998. Antonelli continued their career as a Project Manager at IT Telecom Spa from 1995 to 2005. Fabio then joined Telecom Italia as a Chief Solution Architect, staying with the company until 2010. Antonelli worked as a Program Manager at Shared Service Center Srl from 2010 to 2011. From 2011 to 2019, they held various roles at FBK CREATE-NET, including Head of OpenIoT Research Area and Head of OpenIoT Research Unit. Currently, they are the Head of OpenIoT Research Unit at Fondazione Bruno Kessler - FBK, a position they have held since 2020.

Fabio Antonelli has a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Politecnico di Milano. Fabio also has another Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering with a focus on Information Technology from the same university.
