Mitzi Laughlin

Mitzi Laughlin has a diverse work experience in the field of healthcare and research. Mitzi started their career in 1991 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Alief ISD, where they provided medical care and athletic training services to athletes in grades 7-12. From 1997 to 2000, they worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Rice University, where they coordinated medical care for athletes and developed injury prevention and rehabilitation programs. Mitzi then joined The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston as a Program Analyst in the Human Genetics Center, where they performed biostatistical analyses and participated in grant writing and data analysis. In 2002, Mitzi joined Wyle Integrated Science and Engineering Group as a Sports Medicine Project Manager, where they worked with Flight Surgeons to provide medical care for astronauts, conducted biostatistical analyses, and developed databases for tracking exercise sessions and post-flight rehabilitation. In 2012, they joined the University of Houston as a Research Faculty member, and eventually in 2018, they became the Chief Scientist at Fondren Orthopedic Group.

Mitzi Laughlin completed their education history with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from The University of Texas at Austin in the years 1987 to 1991. Mitzi then pursued a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science at the University of Houston from 1995 to 1999. Finally, they obtained a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from the University of Houston from 1999 to 2002.
