Junior Postdoctoral Researcher at Research Foundation Flanders - FWO

Sophie Heymans is a Junior Postdoctoral Researcher at Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) since October 2022 and a Postdoctoral Researcher at KU Leuven since January 2018, focusing on phase-change ultrasound contrast agents for radiation therapy monitoring. Sophie has experience as a PhD Researcher on the Amphora project, which investigates Ultrasound Contrast Agents for in-vivo dosimetry in radiotherapy. Additionally, Sophie participated in a joint PhD program between KU Leuven and Erasmus University Rotterdam at Erasmus MC. Prior experience includes working as an R&D Physicist and Requirements and Systems Engineer at IBA, contributing to the development of new features for the Proton Therapy System, and providing tutoring in mathematics, physics, and chemistry at My Sherpa. Sophie holds multiple degrees, including a PhD in Physics from KU Leuven and a PhD in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
