Safaa Shahin has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Starting in 2006, they worked as a Branch Manager for Almacen El Primero until 2010. From 2010 to 2014, Safaa served as a Program Manager for Syria Trust for Development. In 2014, they joined Ettijahat-Independent Culture as a Projects Coordinator. Safaa then worked as an Operations Manager for Dawlaty from 2015 to 2016. They served as the Chief Executive Officer of a local humanitarian Syrian NGO from 2017 to 2018, and during the same period, they also held the position of Head of Development and Quality. From 2018 until the present, Safaa has been working as a Consultant for Conflict-Sensitive Programming, providing services to various clients in Lebanon and Africa. Currently, they are a Global Risk and Resilience Lead at Food for the Hungry, Inc.
Safaa Shahin pursued a Master's degree in Leadership & Negotiation at Bay Path University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in English literature from Damascus University in Syria and an Associate's degree in Civil Engineering from Homs University's Intermediate Institute of Engineering, also in Syria. Safaa has also obtained various certifications, including Human Rights Education Training from the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights, System Thinking from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Peace Responsiveness from Interpeace. Safaa has additional certifications in Conflict resolution, civil society building & transitional justice from George Mason University, Managing People in Emergencies from REDR UK, and International Human Rights Mechanisms from The Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies (CIHRS). Safaa also holds a certification in Training of Trainers on the Do No Harm Approach from LCPP and a Mini MBA in Management Development from Lazarski University.
