Sameer Patwardhan

Sameer Patwardhan is the SVP, Technology at Forbes. Sameer has over 12 years of experience in IT, with a focus on system engineering and operations. Sameer has overseen the operations side of businesses in Point of Sale IT, leading various initiatives in the lower environment from maintenance and refresh of release environments to coordinating changes for various projects to support IT horizontally across the Sales and Services department.

In their previous company, Verizon, they were the Sr Manager Sys-Engg. There, they were responsible for the creation of presentations regarding on-premise and cloud costs for the vice president and director to generate informed decisions for the solution migration and optimization. Sameer also led the transition of non-production application to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud with more than 30 applications.

Sameer has hands-on experience in cost analysis and bill of IT for budget estimation of infrastructure costs. Sameer has also implemented 100% automation in continuous integration CI/CD DevOPS tool chain supporting the new Spring boot based Microservices stack on AWS and on-premise.

At Forbes, they are responsible for utilizing modern technology stack, while empowering developers in entering the operative-free (Ops-Free) era. Sameer is also responsible for the execution of cost governance. Sameer oversees a team of 20 in attaining business goals and key performance indicator (KPI), as well as supporting team member’s success through performance appraisals, development plans, and effective mentorship.

Sameer has enforced cost optimization to secure right size infrastructure on AWS. Sameer has also presented a quick overview talk on Dev Ops day at Verizon in Tampa showcasing some of the quick wins on cost optimization within the department.

Sameer Patwardhan has a MS in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University, a BE in Electronics from the University of Mumbai, and a high school diploma from OLPS. Sameer also has certifications from (ISC)² in Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and from Amazon Web Services in AWS Certified Solutions Architect -Associate.
