Lia Averanga-Torrez

Lia Averanga-Torrez has a diverse work experience in the accounting and finance field. They started their career as a High School Intern in the Accounting Department at Hilton Springfield in 2010. They then interned as a Development Assistant at the Prevent Cancer Foundation in 2015. In the same year, they joined Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) as an Accounting Assistant until 2017. From 2017 to 2019, they worked as a Finance Associate at the American Physical Therapy Association. In 2019, they joined Mercedes-Benz of Alexandria as an Accounts Receivable Accountant, and later served as an Accountant until 2022. Their most recent role is as a Staff Accountant at Forbright Bank, where they started in June 2022.

Lia Averanga-Torrez completed their high school education at John R. Lewis High School, where they earned an Advanced Studies Diploma from 2007 to 2011. Following high school, Lia attended Northern Virginia Community College from 2011 to 2012, where they pursued a degree in Business Information Technology-CSC with a focus on Business, Technology, and Data Entry. Subsequently, they enrolled at George Mason University's School of Business from 2013 to 2017, where they received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Finance, General. In addition to their formal education, Lia obtained several certifications, including Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) from Bloomberg BNA in September 2016, and Microsoft Excel 2010 and Microsoft Word 2010 from Microsoft Office Training in June 2011. It is also worth noting that from 2005 to 2009, Lia engaged in educational activities related to Mathematics and Science at the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command- (WRAIR), participating in the GAINS IN THE EDUCATION OF MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE (GEMS) program.
