Robert A. Minkin

Robert has a distinguished career in healthcare spanning 35 years. He has earned the FACHE designation, has served as an organizational leader in many capacities, and is a nationally renowned consultant and advisor.

In addition to Robert’s many consulting and advisory roles, he served as Regional CEO for the newly formed Verity Healthcare System, leading two acute hospitals and a medical foundation in the South San Francisco Bay Area. Before that, Robert served as a senior VP with The Camden Group, where he established a national value-based payment reform and a hospital operations practice, leveraging his experience as one of four Medicare bundled payment organizations in the first Medicare demonstration project. He also served as a Director with The Hunter Group, specializing in hospital and health system transformation and turnarounds. Prior to joining The Camden Group, Robert served as the president and CEO of Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital, a 565-bed tertiary teaching center in Denver, Colorado. Under his leadership, Exempla Saint Joseph was approved to participate in a three-year CMS Acute Care Episode demonstration project to “bundle” payments to hospitals and physicians. Exempla Saint Joseph is one of only four hospitals with cardiac programs to participate in the pilot project.

Before joining Exempla Saint Joseph, Robert served as the chief operating officer and executive VP for St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, California, a 448-bed tertiary care fully integrated (medical foundation with wrap-around IPA) medical center. During his tenure, Robert led the organization to achieve ANA Magnet status, among many other clinical and financial achievements. He has also served as CEO of Desert Hospital in Palm Springs, California for eight years. Robert has held senior positions at other facilities throughout California, including Riverside Community Hospital, Memorial Hospitals Association, Pacific Medical Center, and Community Hospital.

Robert’s professional affiliations include a Fellowship with and certification from the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Association of Southern California, and many others. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Sonoma, and his Master’s degree in Business Administration from California State University, San Francisco.
