Caroline Slaven

Caroline Slaven is an experienced economic development professional currently serving as Team Leader for Economic Development at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) focused on Somalia, a position held since November 2017, following a tenure as Economic Adviser with FCDO Somalia. Prior to this role, Caroline worked at the Department for International Development (DFID) as an Economic Adviser and in the Chief Economist's Office in Lebanon, and the Migration Department. Additional experience includes serving as a Natural Resource Consultant at Oxford Policy Management, Governance Advisor at the Ministry of Finance in Timor Leste, and Consultant Economist with the African Development Bank. Caroline's early career features positions as an Economist in Mozambique, including work on poverty reduction strategies and public resource management. Caroline holds an MSc in Developing Economics from SOAS University of London and an MA in Economics and Chinese from The University of Edinburgh.
