Smita Menon

Smita Menon is a skilled scientist currently serving as Scientist II at Forge Biologics since March 2022. With a robust academic background, Smita holds a Doctorate in Philosophy from Montana State University and a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science from Mumbai University. Smita has accumulated over six years of lab management experience as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma, where collaboration across departments was key to numerous projects. Extensive expertise in structural biology encompasses more than 10 years in cloning, expression, purification, and structure determination of proteins through X-ray crystallography, along with functional annotation via structure and sequence comparisons. Prior roles included a Research Associate at USUHS, where work focused on the structural determination of a regulatory system protein linked to bacterial virulence, a Postdoc and roles as a Research Assistant/Teaching Assistant at Montana State University, along with early internships at Bhabha Atomic Research Center and other organizations.
