Maria Unell

Maria Unell serves as the Head of the Nature Conservation Unit at the County Administrative Board of Kronoberg since September 2022, overseeing operations, budgets, and a team of 16 employees dedicated to protecting natural values. Maria has extensive experience as a reviewer of applications for various organizations, including Eureka Network, Formas, and VINNOVA, focusing on sustainable development and environmental innovations. Previously, Maria held roles such as Project Manager for the Swedish Board of Agriculture and Director for both Refarm 2030 and Miljö Linné, emphasizing sustainable practices and self-sufficiency in food production. With a Ph.D. in Environmental Microbiology and a strong background in environmental consulting and research, Maria co-founded CaptiGel AB, a company specializing in biocompatible materials.
