Tor-Odd Høydal has extensive work experience in the research and defense sectors. Tor-Odd started their career as an Engineer at Standard Telefon og Kabelfabrikk in 1986. Tor-Odd then served as an Enlisted and Engineer in the Norwegian Armed Forces from 1987 to 1988. In 1990, they worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. From 1991 to 2012, they held various positions at Forsvarets forskningsinstitutt (FFI) / Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, including Research Scientist and Principal Scientist and Program Manager. Since 2012, they have been working at Forsvarets forskningsinstitutt - FFI, where they held roles such as Chief Scientist and Program Manager, Research Manager, and currently serves as the Director of Research.
Tor-Odd Høydal's education history begins in 1983 when they enrolled at Agder Ingeniør- og Distriktshøgskole (AID), where they pursued a 3-year degree in Electronics. Tor-Odd completed their studies in 1986. Tor-Odd then went on to attend the New Jersey Institute of Technology from 1988 to 1990, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering. Continuing their education at the same institution, Tor-Odd Høydal earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, which they completed in 1991.
