Fort Worth Botanic Garden
Alejandra Vasco is a Research Botanist at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas since August 2017. Previous experience includes serving as an Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Research Associate at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico from February 2014 to July 2017, focusing on the systematics, phylogeny, and anatomy of the Elaphoglossum petiolatum complex. Prior to that, Alejandra held the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate at The New York Botanical Garden from February 2010 to December 2013, where research centered on leaf development and evolution of ferns, as well as phylogeny and diversification in the Terebinthaceae family. Alejandra's academic journey began with a PhD in Plant Sciences from The City University of New York, completed in 2010, following a Bachelor of Science in Botany/Plant Biology from Universidad de Antioquia in 2002. Additionally, experience includes teaching General Botany and Laboratory as an Adjunct Professor at Universidad de Antioquia in early 2004.
