John Griffioen

John Griffioen currently serves as the Assistant Director of Animal Programs & Conservation at Fort Worth Zoo since October 2020, following experience as an Associate Veterinarian. Previous roles include Harlan Family Veterinary Intern at Indianapolis Zoological Society, Veterinary Intern at Mystic Aquarium, and Preceptor at National Aquarium. John has also completed externships at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium and worked as a Veterinary Nurse at Northwoods Animal Hospital. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, and Spanish from Lake Superior State University. Additionally, John has interned with the US EPA and Pura Vida Missions, contributing to a well-rounded background in veterinary medicine and conservation.
