Komel Merchant

Komel Merchant is a Senior Robotics Software Engineer at Forterra, where responsibilities include obstacle detection and state estimation. Prior experience includes supporting perception stacks for shuttle bus pilot programs and developing algorithms for calibration, detection, and tracking. Komel has also served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Lehigh University, focusing on deep learning models for tumor segmentation and advancing the understanding of machine learning in medical imaging. Additionally, Komel contributed to research on drone swarms by building communication stacks and developing motion planning visualizations. Earlier in the career, Komel was a Software Engineering Intern at Vanguard, refactoring legacy code. Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University, Komel holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Lehigh University.
