Michael Carroll

Michael Carroll is a seasoned hydrogeologist with extensive experience in managing complex water-related projects. Currently serving as Principal Hydrogeologist at Fortescue Metals Group since September 2011, Michael oversees water management across various operational sites, focusing on sustainability, governance, and risk management. Previous roles at Fortescue include Specialist Hydrogeologist, where leadership was demonstrated on the Eliwana Project, and Senior Hydrogeologist, where expertise was applied to environmental impact studies and water supply assessments. Prior to Fortescue, Michael worked at MWH Australia as a Hydrogeologist, conducting extensive drilling campaigns and long-term testing. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Hydrogeology from The University of Western Australia and a Bachelor of Engineering in Natural Resources from the University of Canterbury.
