James Tyler Erwin

Assistant Director of Curriculum and Integration at Forward Edge

James Tyler Erwin has worked in the education field since 2010. James Tyler began their career as an Intern at Goshen High School, where they seized full responsibility of the mentor teacher's classroom for a 10 week period and created, delivered, and taught numerous lesson plans. In 2011, they worked as an English Tutor at Goshen Local Schools, where they independently designed a sophomore English curriculum that focused on reading, writing, and test-taking skills for "at-risk" and special education students. From 2012 to 2013, they worked as a Special Education Teacher at Glen Este High School, where they applied co-teaching strategies in a variety of academic settings, directed instruction, monitored learning, and managed classroom behavior. James Tyler then worked as a Language Arts Teacher at Norwood Middle School from 2013 to 2014, where they applied co-teaching strategies, directed instruction, monitored learning, and managed classroom behavior. James Tyler also developed Common Core aligned Language Arts curriculum and designed a classroom website integrating educational technologies. From 2014 to 2017, they worked as a Technology Integration Specialist at Norwood City Schools, where they explored new educational technologies, delivered technology-related professional development, designed a monthly technology newsletter, attended technology conferences, and built a personal learning network. Currently, they work as an Assistant Director of Curriculum and Integration at Forward Edge, where they deliver professional development for local K-12 teachers, works as an instructional coach and integration specialist for local schools, hosts bi-weekly webinars on educational technologies, completes integration audits, and develops instructional workshops.

James Tyler Erwin has a diverse educational background. James Tyler attended Amelia High School from 2002 to 2006, where they obtained an International Baccalaureate. James Tyler then attended the University of Cincinnati from 2006 to 2010, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education/Language Arts 2010. James Tyler furthered their education at Miami University, where they obtained a Master of Arts in Instructional Design and Technology between 2016 and 2019. In addition, they hold three certifications: Google Certified Trainer (2019), Google Certified Educator Level 1 and 2 (2019), and a Five-Year Professional Educator License - Adolescence to Young Adult (7-12) from the Ohio Department of Education (2016).
