Debasish Sarkar, Ph. D.

Debasish Sarkar, Ph.D., has a diverse background in scientific research. Starting in 2010, they worked as a Senior Research Fellow at Jadavpur University, where they focused on establishing RNA surveillance and degradation machinery as a new approach to regulating gene expression in eukaryotes. In 2016, they became a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the New York State Department of Health, where they investigated the role of the mediator complex in RNA synthesis during heat shock and heavy metal stress in budding yeast. In 2018, they joined the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, studying the impact of miRNA machinery and miRNA-mRNA interaction on gene expression changes in cancer cells caused by radiation. Currently, Dr. Sarkar is a Scientist II at Fosun Pharma USA Inc., focusing on RNA-targeted therapy for rare neurological disorders.

Debasish Sarkar, Ph. D. has an extensive education history in the fields of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Debasish started their academic journey at the University of Calcutta, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, General from 2004 to 2008. Debasish then pursued a Master's degree in Biotechnology from the same university from 2008 to 2010.
