Kenneth Ong

Project Manager, Research Support at Foundations for Social Change

Kenneth Ong has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Kenneth started their career as a Volunteer at the Salvation Army, where they provided leadership and guidance to a team serving meals to community members. Kenneth also volunteered as a Student Mentor at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

In 2016, Kenneth joined UBC Residence Hall Association as a Member at Large, where they planned and budgeted for events to enhance the resident experience for over 1500 students. Kenneth continued their involvement at UBC by taking on roles as a Bookstore Rush Cashier, Access and Diversity Note Taker, UBC Life Ambassador, and Resident Advisor.

In 2017, Kenneth joined The University of British Columbia as a Research Assistant in the Winstanley Lab, conducting research tasks and assisting with lab operations. Kenneth also worked as a Volunteer at Foundations for Social Change, assisting with the organization's direct cash transfer program to empower people beyond homelessness.

From 2019 to 2020, Kenneth worked at the Provincial Health Services Authority in various roles such as Data Analyst, Project Coordinator, Business Analyst, COVID Tracing Assistant, and Project Analyst. Kenneth gained experience in data analysis and project coordination within the healthcare sector.

In 2021, Kenneth joined UBC ICORD as a Research Assistant in the BioAugmentative Interfaces Laboratory, contributing to research projects and lab operations.

Kenneth's most recent position is as a Project Coordinator and Project Manager at Foundations for Social Change. In these roles, they are responsible for organizing team systems, providing detailed status reports, and analyzing and presenting data to senior stakeholders.

Kenneth Ong completed their Bachelor's degree in Behavioural Neuroscience from The University of British Columbia, where they studied from 2016 to 2020. Kenneth further pursued higher education in the field of Medicine at The University of British Columbia from 2021 to 2025. In addition to their academic achievements, Kenneth also obtained several certifications including "Business Analyst Essentials" from Global Knowledge in January 2021, "PowerBI Data Analysis Bootcamp Certificate" from Reach Academy in November 2020, and "Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)" from the Project Management Institute in September 2019. Furthermore, they completed various research-related certifications such as "Introduction to Working with Rodents in Research" and "Rodent Restraint and SQ/IP Injections" from The University of British Columbia in September 2019, and "TCPS2 Core Research Ethics" from Tri-council and the Government of Canada in July 2018 and July 2017, respectively.
