Stavros Georgios Karakalos

Stavros Georgios Karakalos is a seasoned materials engineer with extensive experience in research management, project management, and materials characterization. Currently serving as a Senior Materials Engineer at FRALOCK since October 2022, Stavros previously held the position of Assistant Director at the Institute for Carbon Management from April 2022 to October 2022. Prior roles include Research Professor and Director of the Materials Characterization Facility at the University of South Carolina, and postdoctoral positions at Harvard University and the University of California, Riverside, focusing on catalytic reactions and surface modifications. With a Ph.D. in Surface Science and a strong academic background from the University of Patras and the University of Ioannina, Stavros has contributed to numerous research projects and has expertise in characterization services for a variety of research institutions and companies.
